Gallagher’s star continues to rise

Conor Gallagher impresses at Brighton

The M23 derby, the match between Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace finished in a draw thanks to an excellent strike by Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher who scored in the 69th minute for the Eagles. Gallagher’s performance at Crystal Palace has drawn comparisons with the Chelsea Legend Frank Lampard. Since moving to Selhurst Park on loan, Gallagher has seven goals and three assists.

Headlines

Relentless Raphinha is the jewel in Bielsa’s crown

Raphina shows his work ethic

Leeds United battled their way to three points when they visited West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday. Jack Harrison earned the King of the Match award after scoring a hat trick, but that was only possible thanks to Raphina’s decisive passing and movement on the pitch. The Brazilian forward demonstrated real class and a work ethic that proves he’s one of the best in the Premier League.

Headlines

Watford’s new signings hit the ground running

Watford's new signings in action at Newcastle

The first half of the season was hard on the Hornets and they are already fighting for survival in the Premier League. The January transfer window provided an opportunity to inject some new life into the squad and the arrivals of Maduka Okoye from Sparta, Hassane Kamara from Nice, Samir from Udinese and Edo Kayembe from KAS Eupen seems to have done the trick. The new players slotted in place from the start at St James’ park, especially Edo Kayembe who controlled the midfield with confidence and demonstrated a nice eye for a defence splitting pass.

Vocabulary

Task

This week, there are three questions for you to answer in the comments section below.

Question 1. Have you ever started a new job and had to hit the ground running?

Question 2. In your job, do you need to be decisive, or do you need to think carefully about your decisions?

Question 3. Do you think a strong work ethic is a good thing or do you believe in doing the work you are paid for and nothing more? I’m not sure these are completely exclusive. What do you think?

Football Phrase

When someone of a senior-level position or higher starts a new job, hitting the ground running is what the new employer expects from him. Usually, when searching for an employee at that level, employers are eager to find someone who won't take much time to be acquainted with the new job duties and responsibilities.
I am a Supply Planner, and my job involves a lot of decision-making. It is imperative to be decisive and fast, otherwise, I will either miss a business opportunity or wind up in a critical situation.

1. Well , I usually start new jobs by learning from experienced colleagues which might take a week or two at most then when I get the basic experience needed , I hit the ground running from that point :)

2. As a teacher , we have a variety of decisions to be taken and I think some of them should be taken immediately and some other decisions should be carefully taken so it's kind of using both qualities during my working career :)

3. Work ethic is absolutely a great thing whereas sometimes you feel knackered and you couldn't manage to complete your tasks on time so that's why some people tend to finish their work first then think about work ethic later :)

Task
1. I'm not sure that it's beneficial to attract more attention in the business life. Progress step by step.Low profile is always preferred-:)
2.In finance sector, it's needed to be patient and think carefully about desicions. No need to hurry-:)
3. I always believe that people should respect what they do. Quality of output also describes quality of the doer. Job is our life style we should approach it like a hobby. Working just for payroll makes it unbearable.
Can you believe? In 12 century, a Turkish sufi , philosopher, called "Ahi Evran" lived In my hometown. He was the leader of the "Ahi Brotherhood" at the same time and determined “work ethic” rules for tradespeople which are still current and valuable.
Phrases
• I think when a club employ a loanee, it should be declared in the beginning to motivate the player that there is also a long term purchase option.
• Mary's knowledge and skill of the cooking was drawn comparison with master chefs.
• Vuvuzela has a relentless sound when watching Africa Cup of Nations nowadays.
• Decisive players think and take action simultaneously at the critical positions in the match like to chip the ball over the goalie.
• New manager hasn't done the trick, the team is still falling down towards the bottom of the table.
• What a n awful line-up. No player slotted in the second area to control opponent counter- attacks. Therefore strikers splitted defence line easily.
Note
• Instead of "….star is rising" and “to hit the ground “ we say "..…star is brightening…." and “to shake the ground”
• In my country derbies are named with the city or region name. No special name for them.
