Heroes

Heroes

We asked stars from the Premier League a series of questions about football, culture and English. In this video, the players talk about their football heroes and heroes from outside football. What players do you think they will talk about? Ronaldo? Maldini? Zidane? Watch the video and find out!

Watch the video, and then complete the activities by clicking LEARN below and tell us what you think by clicking on TALK AND QUIZ.

Complete the activities

Activity 1: The Premier League players talked about some of their heroes both in and out of football. In this first activity, you have to match the players with what they said about their heroes.
Match the players to the things they said.

Activity 2: In this activity, you have to fill in the gaps in sentences using some of the vocabulary the players used in the video.
Fill in the gaps with the correct word.

Activity 3: In the video, Angel Rangel said, 'I think footballers should definitely be role models.' Here Angel used the word 'should', which we use to say if something is a good idea or 'shouldn't if something is a bad idea. In this activity, you have to match the sentences to 'should' or 'shouldn't'. Do you agree with what the sentences say?
What should good role models do?

Yes, I strongly agree with the idea that footballers should be role models, because the majority of people who follow their news and personal lives are teens. This category of people is very sensitive and needs always a model to imitate him. This behavior manifests clearly in some acts like imitating hair style.

Tips

Become a better listener

Sometimes people speak too quickly. If you find listening difficult, remember you can stop the video and listen again. You can also do this when speaking in English.

Remember to say:

'Sorry, can you say that again?'

or

'Sorry, what did you say?'.
