Activity Week: Health and Fitness

This week, we are looking at the language of health and fitness. There are six lessons focusing on the language we use when we are talking about different aspects of health and fitness.

This week, the lessons are all designed to help you expand your vocabulary.

Complete this course and you will:

  • learn vocabulary related to exercise and fitness;
  • learn vocabulary related to sports injuries;
  • learn vocabulary related to healthy food and drink;
  • earn a completion certificate.

Activity Week: Health and Fitness

  • Lesson 1: Facebook live
    Rich and Jack will be live at 13.00 UK time on Monday the 26th February 2018 to welcome you to the start of Activity Week: Health and Fitness. In this session, Rich and Jack will talk about the lessons in the activity week and look at the responses to some questions on Facebook about health and fitness.
  • Lesson 2: Football English Blog - Injuries
    In this Football English Blog, we look at injuries and the dangers of the game. Tackling is an important part of the game, but when it goes wrong, it can end a footballer's career.
  • Lesson 3: Premier Skills English Podcast - Learning Vocabulary: Health and Fitness
    In this lesson, you can find the Premier Skills English Podcast. Rich and Jack talk about the language of health and fitness and role play three situations.
  • Lesson 4: Language focus - Fitness
    The first language focus is all about fitness. Do you know your squats from your burpees or your hamstrings from your boot laces?
  • Lesson 5: Language focus - food and drink
    In this language focus, we look at healthy and unhealthy food and drink.
  • Lesson 6: Task - You are the coach
    In the task, you have an opportunity to practise using the language from this activity week. There are three complicated coaching situations and you have to imagine what you would do if you were the coach.
  • End of week test
    In the end of week test, there are questions about the language covered in the activity week. If you pass the test (75%) you can download a certificate.
  • End of week certificate
    Complete the activity week and pass the test to earn a certificate.
    End of week test requires a grade between 75% and 100% to continue.
  • Activity Week: Health and Fitness Round-up
    Jack returns to Facebook at the end of the week to talk about the highlights from the comments.
