Vocabulary
Did you learn English as a second language? If so, can you remember what it was like when you looked at a text and didn’t understand most of the words? You have probably been through the process of learning thousands of words to get to your current level — thousands! It’s worthwhile stopping and remembering how intimidating (exciting?) it feels when you are at the beginning of your journey of learning a new language, particularly if your native language is significantly different...
This is probably the situation a lot of your students are in — but how can you help them? Obviously motivation and other factors play a part, but what about more practical guidance in vocabulary learning. Wouldn’t it be great if you could say to your learners: ‘This is how you’re going to learn all these new words.’ Hopefully this workshop will give you a framework to say that!
You can download all the materials from the workshop in the downloads section on the right. You can complete some of the materials online by taking a look at the activities in the activities section, and if you have any questions or comments about the workshop we would be happy to hear from you. You can add your comments in the discuss section. We hope you enjoy the workshop.

These workshops are really great! Clear and straight to the point.
They also offer a good, easy and thoughtful chance to improve our teaching plans.

I always ask them to categorise new vocabulary and write them in a notebook to recall them easily.
I also advise them to write use new vocabulary in sentences to know how to use them in a text and sometimes using them to write a short paragraph or a short story.
One other way I recommend to my students is to use synonyms and antonyms to remember new vocabulary.

Vocabulary learning is so essential with the grammar to help the learners build their language but this should happen with more engagement to the students and to follow a student-centred techniques.

At school we learn such words and their meanings. It is written for us to go study and then the next dyear or two weeks have a dictation where you have to spell these words.
