In my opinion, politeness depends on quality of country education and level of developing. Being well-educated and peace of mind are personel aspects of this topic. After education of family during upbringing , basic rules should be taught in the school too . As far as I observed during my journey , English people are very polite. Let me give an example between two societies. In our culture to start sentence with "May I have....." instead of "I want...." is a way of polite. No need to say "Please" I used to forget to say:-) Despite that in U.K. this word is indicator of being polite.

I do agree that young people of our time are less polite than their parents.
Moreover, could the team explain to me the meaning of stereotypes, I looked at it in the dictatory, yet I didn't get the main point. Thanks.

Stereotypes are mostly negative but not 100%.
Youngsters are a bit naughty but I can't say less polite whereas somehow elder people are more polite because they are mature enough to deal with others with proper manners.
Good manners will always be in our society.

Stereotypes can be positive and negative and also neutral.
Young people are much less polite than their parents and grandparents.
Good manners are a thing of the past as people are much ruder today.

It depends on the people, I think stereotypes doesn't always negative since they could communicating with others, i think they were good people. Talk about politeness, sometimes young people less polite than their parents or grandparents, young people don't care about the older they're become more careless, and it's really impolite, though you should being polite, if people polite with each others it means people have a good manners. Good manners is not only a thing in the past, but also a thing till today and so on.

Stereotypes can be both positive and negative, as real life, and both are unfair. You cannot make general statements about any thing, because there is not one thing in life that is completely even. Stereotypes help to have a first general approach to something, but when you get to know it, you'll probably discover that reality is so much richer!

Also, sometimes we judge some person by its country or region. I realised that people are very different, even brothers or sisters can be different. So, we must get know each other before we get some conclusion.

I don't agree with the statement saying that young people are less polite than their parents.in my country, it's likely the same.young people adopt culture from their parents.

Yes,I think It's not fair to judge people simply on how they are believed to be.I accept that stereotypes are unavoidable but putting people in groups based on how they are believed to be is awful and narrow minded.Even the good stereotypes for me are bad like Asians are smart or Americans all are good at sports because they are held-up and expected of both countries. We don't have to looped people into the same thing. So,yes,in my humble opinion stereotypes are always negative.

Hi Raulito
I agree - the best way to get rid of negative stereotypes is to meet people from different groups. Do you think that national characteristics are stereotypes? I grew up learning that there are 'British' values and characteristics, a kind of self-stereotype and I have heard people from different countries describing their own national character. Do you think that there are Peruvian characteristics and values?
