This season we're playing Fantasy Football on Premier Skills English! Have you played it before? If you have, great but if you haven't here is a summary of how it works and how we are going to use the Fantasy Football game to improve your English!
The Rules
Here are the basic rules of the Fantasy Football game on premierleague.com, for more detailed rules visit www.premierleague.com. You can sign up and create your own team.
- A squad of 15 players.
- 2 goalkeepers.
- 5 defenders.
- 5 midfielders.
- 3 strikers.
- A maximum of three players from one club.
- A captain each week who scores double points.
- A total budget of £100 million.
The Teams
Our Team: Premier Skills
We have not selected any players for our Premier Skills Fantasy Football team yet. It's your job to help select the players, choose the tactics and captain, and make transfers in and out of the squad. Each week on the website there will be votes and debates on how we should all manage the Premier Skills team. You will need to show your knowledge of football and the Premier League to pick the best players for the team. You will also need to use your English skills in the comments section below to persuade other members of the Premier Skills English community to listen to your advice. Each week, the Premier Skills English team (Jack and Rich) will change the Fantasy Football team based on your choices.
For even more fun, we have also set up a private Premier Skills English League on the Premier League's Fantasy Football website. Jack and Rich will play in the league and we will also have the Premier Skills team in the league so you can see if you are doing better on your own or as part of the team. We will have some prizes to give away throughout the season! If you want to enter your own team, you need to follow these instructions:
1) Register your team name on www.premierleague.com.
2) Select your squad on www.premierleague.com.
3) Click on Leagues.
4) Click on Create and join new leagues.
5) Click on Join a league
5) Find the Premier Skills English private league by using this Private league code: 553220-118684
6) Send a comment to us in the comments section below and tell us your team name and we will register you in the Premier Skills English private league! Easy!
The Language
Talking about football is a great way to learn English. Each week, in the Premier Skills English Podcast, there will be a section about Fantasy Football and lots of Football English for you to learn. In the glossary section on the right-hand side of this page, you will find useful words and definitions you can use to talk about Fantasy Football and football in general. We will change the glossary each week and one of your tasks will be to try to use this vocabulary in the comments section to discuss the Fantasy Football team.
The Debate
This is the most important part of our Fantasy Football adventure. We want you to discuss the Premier Skills English Fantasy Football team and Fantasy Football in general with other users on the website in the comments section. This will allow us to choose the team but it's also great English practice for you. By talking together about football, your English will get better and better!

One thing in Fantasy Football is that you want to be quite certain that your players are going to play. It's a difficult one[Rich]
From the above it will be a gamble to select Rashford in your team not being very certain of his consistency of match games.

I have some feeling that Ings from Liverpool is going to show his full potential this season since he was stopped by an injury last time. After all he was one of the best players in the Championship before Reds signed him from Burnley. Also M.Rashford is a rising star and if he finds his place in the team he could become the best english player in the future. It's not going to be easy in the 1st round on the Emirates but he already shocked everyone with his goals in the FA cup.

It will be great to have your opinion about who to choose for the Premier Skills team, Alex. We can then share the glory when we do well! We have two options; working together on the Premier Skills English team and/or competing against each other in the Premier Skills League. We hope that different people will choose different options :)
