Would you do the right thing?
Welcome to Lesson 6 in Activity Week - Dilemmas.
The content of this lesson is linked to the podcast you listened to in lesson three and the language you learned in lessons four and five:
Understanding Grammar - What would you do?
In lesson four, Rich spoke about dilemmas and in lesson five, Jack spoke about dilemmas and the lessons introduced lots of words and phrases about these topics. This task is your chance to use the language you have learned to give your opinion about five dilemmas:
Task
What do I need to do?
In this discussion task, we would like you to do three things:
- Read the article and look at the words in red. Think about what these words mean.
- Do the quiz at the end of the article. This quiz checks your understanding of the words in red in the article.
- Discuss each dilemma and say what you would do in the comments section.
Dilemmas
Would you do the right thing?
Dilemma 1 You are in a big department store and you see a man that looks quite poor putting a Manchester Utd shirt into his rucksack. Would you tell the shop assistant or keep quiet?
Dilemma 2 You are a Chelsea fan. You are leaving the stadium after your team has been beaten 3-0. You see a wallet on the floor in the car park. It’s Eden Hazard’s! And it has £2000 in it! What do you do?
Dilemma 3 You are a professional footballer. Your next match is against a very small team in the cup. Somebody offers you a lot of money to score an own goal in the last minute of the match if you are already winning by more than three goals. Should you do it?

And I should have said ' he doesn't appreciate my goodness'.I made an obvious grammatic mistake.

Err...I should have said' on my social media', not'at'. The usage of prepositions is always confusing for me.

In Dilemma 3 I would definitely refuse. In such situation there is a huge chance that you would be involved in bookmaking cheating which is a fraud and criminal offence in many countries. Also it would be a type of fixed result match from Football Association point of view, and you would be definitely banned if it gets out.

Dilemma three is the least obvious but probably the most serious!
