Manchester City are the reigning Premier League Champions. In 2017/18, City won the league with a record number of goals, wins and points. Can another team stop City from winning the title again?

Manchester City was formed in 1880 but had different names until they became Manchester City in 1894. City have played in the top division for most of their history but they did fall down to the third level as recently as 1999. City’s most successful periods have been in the late 1960s and the last ten years when they have won both League and Cup titles. Here are the highlights:
- League Champions: 5 times
- FA Cup Winners: 5 times
- League Cup Winners: 5 times
- European Cup Winners’ Cup: Winners 1969/70
- Premier League best finish: Winners in 2011/12, 2013/14 & 2017/18
Josep 'Pep' Guardiola, had lots of success managing Bayern Munich in Germany and Barcelona in Spain before he moved to Manchester City in 2016. Since his arrival, he has taken City to the Premier League trophy and transformed the club into one of the best in Europe. Guardiola is regarded as one of the best managers in the game.
Three to Watch
Here are three Manchester City players to keep an eye on in the Premier League this season:
City’s biggest summer transfer was Riyad Mahrez’s £60 million move from Leicester City. The Algerian winger arrives as a Premier League winner with Leicester and will add skill and pace to either side of the pitch. Ia Mahrez can perform in the same way as he did for Leicester in their Premier League winning campaign, City have another match-winner in the team.
Sane is another winger who is great to watch. Sane is fast and skilful with an eye for goal. He was voted PFA Young Player of the Year last season and at 22 years old has his best years in front of him. Sane scored 10 and made 15 assists in just 32 starts last season.
Kevin De Bruyne
De Bruyne was many people’s Player of the Season in 2017/18 as he helped City cruise to the title. The midfielder’s ability to unlock a defence is second to none and he also can hit a wonderful free--kick. De Bruyne set up 17 Premier League goals last season, more than any Premier League player.
Manchester City won the Premier League last season and broke many Premier League records along the way. Some of the records they broke include: most points, most goals, most wins, most consecutive wins, most points ahead of second place and best goal difference. Manchester City’s top scorer was Sergio Aguero with 21 Premier League goals, who has now won the Premier League three times with City.
Prediction 2018/19: 2nd
Manchester will be looking to retain their title and they are certainly amongst the favourites if not the favourite to win the Premier League title again. However, we think that this season will be much closer than last and City might find this season a little bit more difficult. We wouldn’t be surprised to see City claim the trophy once again, but we think City will have to settle for the runners-up spot this season.
