1. Lead-in
Ask students: What do you think you will be doing in 5 minutes? tomorrow? next week? next summer?
Give the students the handout 1. Ask to tick the activities they think you will be doing in 5 years. Tell your answers and discuss many they guessed.
2. Pre-listening
Give the students the handout 2.
Do Activity 1. Ask them to match the words with the definitions.
3. While listening
Do Activity 2. Play the video pausing at the end of each player’s speech and getting the students making the notes.
Do Activity 3. Play the video again. Students should listen to people talking about their future and write a word from Activity 1 in each gap.
4. After listening
Give out the cards with the name of a player. Each student tells about the future as if he is a player. (Tell the students that they can use the prompts from Activity 2)
5 Freer speaking
Divide students into pairs. Tell them they should interview their partners. Demonstrate the question and the answer with a confident student by asking and answering the first two questions. Students continue in open and then closed pairs. Monitor and check for accurate use of grammar.
Finally each student tells about the partner.
- develop the listening skills: listening for specific information
- practice the freer speaking
- increase the vocabulary

HI Jedrek
These lesson plan ideas were all linked to a lesson plan competition you can find in the teacher's section on the website:
https://premierskillsenglish.britishcouncil.org/teachers/lesson-plan-competition
The lesson plans were uploaded by teachers from around the world for the competition so they are usually just a lesson plan without handouts.
We have lots of lessons in our lesson plan section most have handouts. You can find our lesson plans here:
