Affirmative form of simple present tense for regular verbs RUNNER-UP

  1. The teacher ask students to talk about their daily activities while he brainstorms their answers on the white board . After that the teacher gives a definition of simple present tense .( 5 minutes ) 
  2. The teacher writes sets of examples on the board (main verbs are written in bold ) , and he reads them while students repeat after him .The teacher asks the students to notice the differences .( 10 minutes )
  3. The teacher asks some students to come to the board and perform some actions while others describe what they see .( 7 minutes )
  4. The teacher distributes sheets containing examples of the use of the simple present , he reads them and asks students to read and guess the type of action .After getting answers , the teacher writes the rule and asks students to write it as well .( 15 minutes )
  5. The teacher brings a video with lyrics which contains examples of simple present verbs and their use .Students will watch the video twice before bringing out the verbs and use . (daily routine  , universal truth , habits and fixed future events.) . ( 12 minutes )
  6. The teacher distributes worksheets and ask students to conjugate the verbs between brackets.( 8 minutes )
  7. The teacher explains the homework which is included in the previous worksheet . ( 3 minutes )
Goals: 

Main aim (s)

By the end od this lesson students will be able to : use the simple present in the affirmative form with regular verbs to describe variety of actions concerning : daily routine  , universal truth , habits and fixed future events.

Subsidiary aim (s)

Students use the simple present efficiently in the coming lessons , especially in speaking .

Personal aim(s)

To reduce the teacher time talk ( TTT) and increase students time talk ( STT ) as much as possible by creating active interaction atmosphere and get students emotionally involved .

Anticipated problem (s)

  • students may lack many vocabulary terms due to their level .
  • students may not be ale to understand some sentences’ meanings .

Possible solution (s)

  • The teacher can provide students by the necessary words in a limited way .
  • The teacher can rely on gestures and drawings to facilitate his learners ‘ understanding before deciding to give them the meaning directly .
