But then one of your assistants informs you that the away side had 12 players on the pitch when the goal was scored – one of their substitutes had come on unnoticed seconds earlier.

I would have shown the spare player a red card rather than a yellow, but then I would have disallowed the goal and restarted from the corner.

I think I would give goal. The game was continuing when it was scored. Away team has right to complain about disallowed goal. It's not their fault. Spare player must be punished not to play next three match.
