A rubbish collector.

A Rubbish Plan

A Rubbish Plan

When Adhi and his friends get to the youth centre to train, they get a nasty surprise.

The kids arrive at the football pitch with their coach to discover that someone has dumped a few bags of rubbish near one of the goals. There is lots of rubbish around, but these bags are right on the pitch. The coach tells the players that they can’t train here, it’s not safe.

Activity 1: What do you think will happen in the story? Choose your answers and then read the rest of the story and find out if you were right! Remember there are no right or wrong answers yet!
What's going to happen?
The coach leaves them and the kids decide to clean the place themselves. They do their best to kick the rubbish to the side of the pitch and then set fire to it.

The smoke rises menacingly, but the fire dies down and most of the rubbish seems to have gone so the kids start to have a kick around without the coach and then go home. As they leave, we see a piece of broken glass left on the pitch.

Santi and Rini are getting ready to go to train. They are talking about the pitch. They say that they need to get the rubbish collectors to start collecting rubbish from the football pitch. They head to the training ground. There is still some rubbish, but nothing on the pitch.

Activity 2: Phrasal verbs are verbs that have two or more words and are often difficult to understand. There were quite a few phrasal verbs in the story.
Can you match the phrasal verbs to their definitions?

The boys are boasting to the coach; telling him how they fixed the pitch. The coach is still concerned but they start a match.

Activity 3: Look at the advice about what to do with rubbish and decide if the advice is good or bad.
What should you do with your rubbish?
Santi is running with the ball and is just about to shoot when she steps on the broken glass and it cuts her foot. She drops to the floor in pain, bleeding. The match is over. The coach is angry and upset. The match is cancelled and the training ground is closed. It’s not safe - it needs to be cleaned properly.

The rest of the team ask the coach how to get the rubbish collectors to come to the pitch. The coach suggests tidying the pitch properly and organising the rubbish. The plastics, glass, cans and paper all need to be bagged separately. Then the rubbish collectors will come. The team get to work.

The rubbish collectors are there, carrying away the rubbish and the pitch looks clean. The whole team is there. Santi still has a bandage on her foot. The coach is proud of the team for dealing with the rubbish in the right way.

They felt sad because they couldn't train.
There are rubbish collectors in my neighborhood who do the cleaning, they come here once a week and we have to it into plastic containers so they can handle it.

I must say the city authorities contracting these waste management companies have made people careless about rubbish and wouldn't bother disposing them anywhere
A bad practice

In some countries, the Government put garbage on dumps that pollute the environment. And we know that the fundamental right of every human is right to a healthy, ecological environment. The basis for the maintenance of pure nature is recycling.

Environmental pollution causes great threat to all living creatures. global warming, greenhouse gas emissions, newly emerging contagious diseases etc. are some of the after effects of thoughtless disposal of waste materials. Some of the wastes can recycle and convert as a useful products . For instances, domestic garbage can be transform into biogas and its byproduct 'slurry ' can be used as a natural fertiliser. In conclusion, if we want our nation clean we must start it from our home . We create wastes so we have the responsibility to follow a proper method to dump it.

Thanks for your message of support Shefeek! I can easily understand the sentence and the grammatical structure is good but I'd probably change the vocabulary a bit and say something like, 'If Abdallah wasn't there to play against, there's no way I'd have scored so many points'.
